Wedding Style Outfit 1_4

I’ve talked up my wedding guest style recommendations for the past two years now, but it’s about time I actually walk the walk, don’t you think? So after spending this past weekend celebrating the union of two close friends, I wanted to showcase a wedding style look or two! I snapped up this darling ’50s-inspired cocktail dress from 3 Sisters Boutique in Alexandria a few months ago, knowing I’d have one event or another wear it to. It wasn’t originally the game plan for this weekend though…

Let me explain: I originally planned to wear another dress that an online retailer had contacted me about showcasing on the blog — but then they were taking their sweet time about delivering it, so I had to start thinking about a backup plan. Next up on my must-wear list: Also not this dress.

I had borrowed a dress from my younger sister who just so conveniently happens to be my size. I took it to the dry cleaners early last week and made them promise me the dress would be ready to go by Wednesday at 5 p.m. when I needed to depart for the Outer Banks. I arrived at the dry cleaners promptly at 5:05 that evening, and was told it was running late and wouldn’t be ready for another hour or so — aka time I didn’t have.

So this particular dress was literally plan número tres. I’m not even sure why I questioned wearing it — but after the debacle of mishaps leading up to this weekend, I was dressed for the occasion and wedding band-ready in these gorgeous nude heels from DUO (on sale!). Seriously though, I danced the night away in these lovely heels and escaped the evening entirely blister free. I actually previously featured DUO in this post, and I really can’t get enough of the high-quality British brand — chic, beautifully crafted designs that are already becoming staples in my closet.

Stay tuned Monday for a second post showcasing the dress I borrowed (read: stole) from my sister and was originally going to wear this weekend — I couldn’t resist matching these DUO heels to a second look, and I wanted at least one shot at wearing it before I returned it to her freshly dry cleaned.
