Inspiration

quote

I’m sure tons and tons of my fave fellow bloggers will be doing roundups of the gorgeous Golden Globes fashion today, but since that’ll already be oversaturated, I decided to leave it to some other pros and keep today’s post a bit brief. I have some really exciting stuff coming up for the blog this year, and yet somehow, I’ve been feeling a little uninspired over the past few weeks.

The funny thing is — last year, I worried and stressed about maintaining posts through the entire holiday season, even though I knew in the back of my mind that not that many people even take time to read blogs over the holidays. This year, I kept it nice and simple. I didn’t post much at all over the two weeks or so at the end of December, and it was so therapeutic. After all that time of detoxing though, I figured I’d be back to the grindstone come January feeling super motivated and inspired and ready to get at it. The thing is though, all of that downtime was just long enough for me to get out of my rhythm. And I’ve got to say, getting back into the rhythm and time commitment and inspired mindset for blogging has been a challenge. I don’t know if any of you guys have experienced this — it’s sometimes just not that easy to get back into an (albeit fun and exciting) hobby that happens to take hours and hours of my week that I could spend doing something else.

I will say this: I’m working hard to push through the laziness and really dive back into things. I love this space and I won’t be throwing in the towel any time soon, but I will be living in the moment a little more and not worrying so much if that post doesn’t go up or those photos don’t get taken. I see lots of inspiration on the horizon… I just need to reach out and grab it a little more aggressively. So stay tuned :)

  1. I am feeling the same exact way! I’m glad to know I’m not the only person going through a blogging slump right now. There’s a million things that I want to do with my blog, I just don’t know how to make it happen. Hang in there! I’m sure inspiration will hit soon and the end result will be better than ever! And I personally think it’s okay to step back and live your life a little!

thanks so much for the thoughtful feedback, lady! i feel like my issue isn’t even that i don’t know how to make things happen, it’s just taking the time to do what needs to be done and to stay ahead of schedule on things… that’s one of my big goals for 2014 blog-wise — to stay more ahead on my content so i’m not throwing together posts last-minute!

  2. I really freakin’ love this quote. You’re so so right!

  3. AMEN! People complain “I’ve been at my job for 2 years and I still haven’t gotten a raise”.. well then switch jobs! Instead of complaining, move on and work your ass off!
