The Best Mango Guacamole Mango Jalapeno Margarita

It’s almost Cinco de Mayo people — and you know what that means: Margs & Guac, of course.

This simple guacamole recipe is my absolute favorite. I first tried guacamole with mango wayy back in high school while on a service trip in Costa Rica. I just love the sweet punch the mango adds — and the color, too. Inspired by my go-to guac recipe, I decided to go the mango route with a mango-jalapeño margarita recipe, too. The boyfriend thoughtfully made me orange-jalapeño-infused tequila for my birthday (is it a problem that I get tequila as a gift… nope), and I’ve been making good use of it ever since. Infusing alcohol is actually much easier than you’d think and it really does make a difference in your flavors. So pull up a chip and a marg and enjoy!

Mango Guacamole

3 avocados, halved and mashed
1 mango, peeled, cored, and roughly chopped
1 small yellow onion, chopped
1-2 tomatoes, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 small jalapeño, minced
2 limes, juiced
3 dashes Tabasco sauce
pinch of salt and pinch of sugar
1 small bunch cilantro (I omitted this because a lot of the people I’ll be serving my guac to don’t like cilantro — I personally love it, so feel free to chop up a bunch and toss it in)

This recipe goes like this: Chop everything up. Mash the avocado. Stir it all together and adjust to your taste. That’s it.

Mango-Jalapeño Margarita (adapted from How Sweet It Is) (Makes 2)

4 shots jalapeño-infused tequila
2 shot mango simple syrup
2 shot lime juice
2 jalapeños, sliced
salt and lime for rim, sliver of jalapeño for garnish

To make jalapeño-infused tequila: Add two sliced jalapeños to a large jar or container and cover with 1 1/2 cups of tequila. Let sit for 24 hours, then strain before using. Keep extra in a sealed container, preferably in the fridge.

For mango simple syrup: Combine equal parts sugar and water (I used a 1/2 cup of each for two cocktails), bring to a boil and let sugar dissolve, then turn off heat and let cool completely. Combine 1/2 cup simple syrup + 1/2 mango (peeled and cubed) in a blender and blend until combined.

In a cocktail shaker — or a makeshift one using water glasses (my approach since I was sans shaker), add ice and pour tequila, mango simple syrup, and lime juice over ice. To make the margaritas, rim the ridge of your glass with a lime wedge and dip in margarita salt. Pour shaken and chilled beverage into your glass and enjoy!

      I put garlic in everything! Plus, with the raw onion in there and the jalapeño, it’s already a losing battle, might as well commit!
